Goodnight Sweet Satellite

Specio

The Specio series features figurative portraits, and seeks to explicate emotional responses to the nude body. The figures are distorted to the degree that the face and body share an alternate context, underlining the decontextualization we apply when first observing a naked human. We respond outwardly to the face and her expression, yet inwardly to the physical body, judging, assessing or comparing. These body types exist outside the narrow criterion for “physically attractive” and, isolated from the context of a background, meet our gaze and provoke the viewer to reassess the contrast between the portrait and the nude.

Black Letter Day

To live is to expect order, but accept chaos. Our lives unspool as stretches of predictable routines only to be irreversibly altered by events that arrive without warning. Events that make such a profound impact as to alter the course of our life, transforming who we are, and who we would have been. Those events can often be traced back to a day, a specific time, a captured moment where the life that followed would occupy a new course. This series depicts those precise moments inviting the viewer to interpret the indeterminate narratives.
